Who’s coming?

Right now, I’ll tackle the majority of the route on my own…but that could change, because you’re welcome to join me! Yes, you!

My mate Tom is going to join the first section in the UK. Tom and I worked together about a decade ago and kept in touch periodically, sending each other photos and stories of brief outdoor adventures. We haven’t seen each other for many years, but it says a lot about him that when I told him about my adventure he was happy to sign up.

In the Netherlands, I hope to meet up with Filippo, who I last met on an epic adventure through the Himalayas in 2010. And Giovanni, from the same original group, may join me in the Balkans. Cycling adventures form these strong bonds, even after many years.

Gaining the “Glory Hunters” title, two friends may join me for the ride into Istanbul. My cycling buddy of many years, Andy, will come through Bulgaria and/or Turkey. Andy and I have been on more cycling adventures than I care to remember, and his wise head and laid back style complement and temper my rather more impulsive and rushed manner perfectly.

Phil “The Machine” is also looking to do the same, despite having had a hip replacement last year! I think it’s just turned him into even more of a relentless cyborg so I hope I can keep up.

If you would like to join me, please drop me a line! You’d need to be able to cycle about 100km per day each day, and have the kit to allow you to camp up for the night. All easily achievable! I’d love some company.
